Tesla To Meet Big Goal 2 Years Earlier
At the end of the March Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla presented the Model 3, Tesla’s first affordable car. The demand for Tesla Model 3 is greater than expected and pushed the company to re-think it’s strategy, therefore setting new goals. Previously, Tesla claimed to build 500.000 vehicles a year by 2020.
In a statement to investors, Tesla stated they will build 500.000 vehicles a year by 2018. In the first week after the unveiling of the Model 3, Tesla received 325.000 reservations. To help you make an idea of what we’re talking here, let’s put it like this: last year the company delivered around 50.000 vehicles, and they’re aiming to deliver between 80.000 and 90.000 this year. At least they acknowledge this is an aggressive target, but they’re not running away from the challenge:
“Increasing production five fold over the next two years will be challenging and will likely require some additional capital, but this is our goal and we will be working hard to achieve it,” Tesla stated in the letter to investors.
